Events filming

Public event 02

We do lots of this kind of events filming, typically filming conferences or lectures based on plenary talks, workshops and activities. Attendees can be academics as well as members of the public.

We typically staff such events with 2x fixed cameras and 1x roving gimbal camera for the talks and a further crew for general ambience and vox pop interviews.

The example here is the Research Without Borders public lecture run by the Bristol Doctoral College at Unversity of Bristol.

Output was an overview film (above) to give a quick flavour of event and full talks films (one below).

Why choose Beeston Media for events filming?

This is the kind of project where we feel our decades of production experience and sharp editorial insight really come to the fore. Before launching Beeston Media, our two main directors Hamish and Penny both enjoyed successful careers in factual television production, mainly at the BBC and ITV.

We approach each project the way a journalist would, probing for captivating angles and stories with emotional appeal.

We believe this editorial prowess makes us the obvious choice for clients - both those with little more than a notion of what they need and those with a clear vision that can be enhanced by collaboration with video experts.

Specifically, at an event like Research Without Borders, you have very little time to capture the key interviews and other sequences that combine with the main talks to bring this overview film to life. Our years of experience help us prioritise our filming and concentrate on only the essential footage.

Further events films

We don't just film talks-based events.

Below is a film about an outreach session run by University of Bristol's Faculty of Engineering to promote STEM subjects, particularly to young people.

Also below is a film we made about a training day run by the National Nuclear User Facility's Hot Robotics group, which tested how to search for and deal with nuclear waste in abandoned facilities. We also took a full set of stills on the day, see below.

Beeston Media, were fantastic to work with from start to finish, Hamish and the team were professional and detail orientated whilst remaining friendly and relaxed, their innate ability to blend in at the events, whilst still achieving great footage and interviews, was very impressive. Their editing was excellent and the whole process was very smooth, they managed to encapsulate the best parts of each event, and we are thrilled with the results.
